Overview
Cybersafe was founded to digitally empower senior citizens, helping them to stay safe online by providing simple, practical cybersecurity education and tools. Inspired by personal experiences witnessing how seniors in my own family struggled with online scams and digital threats, I realized the urgent need to equip this vulnerable group with the knowledge to identify and defend against cyberthreats, phishing, and financial fraud. Our goal is to instill confidence as they navigate the internet securely, while also fostering a support network that they can rely on in times of crisis. We believe that everyone, regardless of age, deserves to explore the digital world without fear.
The Problem
Seniors are increasingly targeted by cybercriminals due to their perceived vulnerability and often limited digital literacy. Many lack the knowledge to recognize and defend against common threats like phishing scams and identity theft, leading to financial loss and emotional distress. According to the NCOA, Americans over age 60 reported a total of $3.4 billion in financial fraud losses in 2023, with seniors also less likely to report losing money to fraud compared to younger populations.
The Solution
